Disney Parks Announce New Attractions and Lands for 2027 and Beyond
The Walt Disney Company has unveiled new projects for its parks, including a 'Cars' themed area, a Villains Land, and a 'Monsters, Inc.' themed land.
## Walt Disney World Expansion The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is currently undergoing the most extensive construction projects in its 55-year history. At the recent D23 event, Disney revealed updates on several new attractions and lands, including a 'Cars' themed area, a Villains Land, and a Tropical Americas land. ## Cars Land at Magic Kingdom One of the most exciting announcements was the expansion of Magic Kingdom's Frontierland with a 'Cars' themed area called Piston Peak. This area will feature two new attractions: Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along and Cars Ridge Run Rally. Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along will allow riders to experience a demolition derby schoolbus, while Cars Ridge Run Rally will take riders on an off-road adventure through America's national parks. ## Villains Land at Magic Kingdom Another highly anticipated announcement was the expansion of Magic Kingdom to create a Villains Land. This land will be home to two major attractions, including a coaster featuring Maleficent and a water-based attraction with physical set pieces and special effects. The land will lean into Disney's darker side and tell an all-new, original story featuring Disney's biggest, baddest, meanest characters. ## Tropical Americas at Disney's Animal Kingdom The Tropical Americas land, which is set to open in 2027, will feature three new attractions: El Carrusel de los Animalitos, Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, and Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. El Carrusel de los Animalitos will allow guests to ride on hand-carved animals based on favorite Disney critters, while Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto will take guests on a magical journey through the house of Casita from the film 'Encanto'. Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will take guests deep inside a Maya temple, into the underworld guarded by a mythical serpent named Tsukán. ## 'Monsters, Inc.' Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios Disney's Hollywood Studios will also see the opening of a 'Monsters, Inc.' themed land in 2027. The land will feature a show starring Mike and Sulley called 'Welcome to Monstropolis', as well as two dining outlets: Archie's Scare Pig Pizza and Harryhausen's Restaurant. ## Spaceship Earth Reimagining at Epcot Spaceship Earth, one of Epcot's few remaining opening day attractions, will receive an update for the first time in nearly 20 years. The attraction will shift its focus from the progress of human communication to highlighting human connection across the ages and extend its timeline into the present day and beyond. ## The Return of the Yeti at Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest Disney has announced that it will repair the long-broken Yeti animatronic on Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest coaster. The Yeti will come to life as a large animatronic, and the ride will culminate with a massive Yeti swiping down at the ride vehicle as guests narrowly escape his attack.
