The Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Credit Card is now offering its best-ever welcome bonus. New cardholders can earn up to 115,000 Aeroplan points.

To get the full bonus, applicants must spend $4,000 in the first three months for 75,000 points, then spend a total of $20,000 in the first year for an additional 40,000 points. The Points Guy's September 2026 valuations estimate these points are worth $1,725. The offer is subject to Chase's 5/24 rule, which typically denies applicants who have opened five or more personal cards in the past 24 months.

Card Benefits and Annual Fee

The card's annual fee has risen from $95 to $195. This increase comes with several new and updated travel perks. Cardholders now receive automatic Aeroplan 25K elite status without a spending requirement. They also get a 15% discount on eligible Air Canada award flights and up to $100 in annual Air Canada statement credits, issued as two $50 credits every six months.

Other benefits include a first checked bag free for the cardmember and up to eight companions on the same reservation, no foreign transaction fees, and various travel protections. The card also provides a statement credit of up to $120 every four years for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or Nexus application fees.

Earning Rates and Changes

The card's points earning structure has been refreshed. It now offers bonus points across several categories, though some rates are scheduled to change in 2027.

Spending CategoryPoints per Dollar (Until Dec 31, 2026)Points per Dollar (From Jan 1, 2027)
Eligible Air Canada PurchasesUp to 5xUp to 5x
Other Travel Purchases3x3x
Grocery Stores3x2x
Dining3x2x
Gas Stations2x2x
All Other Purchases1x1x

The 5x rate on Air Canada purchases combines 3 points from the card with 2 additional points from the airline for travelers with Aeroplan 25K status. The report notes the card will become "less rewarding" for dining and grocery spending when those categories drop to 2 points per dollar in 2027.

Additional Earning and Redemption

A separate monthly bonus is available through the end of 2026. Cardholders can earn 500 bonus points for every $2,000 spent per calendar month, capped at 1,500 points monthly. This benefit will be discontinued starting January 1, 2027.

The annual statement credits can help offset the higher $195 fee. The 15% award discount applies to itineraries that include Air Canada flights. The Points Guy states Aeroplan points "can unlock flights on Air Canada and its extensive network of airline partners, including United Airlines."

Applicants are advised to consider the $20,000 spending requirement for the full bonus. The report suggests prepaying expenses like insurance or taxes could help meet the threshold. The card is positioned as a strong option for frequent Air Canada flyers, especially with the current record welcome offer.
