La Compagnie to launch New York-Dusseldorf
La Compagnie will begin an all-business-class route between Newark and Dusseldorf in April 2027, operating five weekly flights with lie-flat seats.

La Compagnie will launch nonstop business class flights between Newark and Dusseldorf on April 23, 2027. The all-business-class carrier will operate five weekly flights using an Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The new service will fill a notable gap in the market. Dusseldorf Airport, a major business hub in northwestern Germany, currently lacks a regular nonstop connection to the New York area. According to schedule data from Cirium, only Condor offers limited seasonal flights during September and October.
The onboard product and lounges
Each flight will be configured with 76 lie-flat business class seats arranged in a 2-2 layout. All passengers flying with La Compagnie receive access to its dedicated lounge facilities. This includes the Lounge&Co at Newark Liberty International Airport and the DUS Sky Lounge at Dusseldorf Airport.
Christian Vernet, CEO of La Compagnie, stated the region is well suited to the airline's model. "At the heart of one of Europe's most dynamic economic regions, with strong international businesses and longstanding ties to the United States, North Rhine-Westphalia is well suited to our unique all-business-class model," Vernet said.
Historical context and route network
The route revives a connection that was severed after the pandemic. Lufthansa previously flew from Newark to Dusseldorf for years until its budget subsidiary Eurowings took over in 2018; Eurowings suspended the service in 2020. Defunct carrier Air Berlin also connected Dusseldorf to New York's JFK airport from 2008 until its 2017 closure.
The new Dusseldorf flight will complement La Compagnie's existing network from Newark, which includes services to Milan, Nice, and Paris Orly.
Pricing and competition
One-way tickets on the new Newark-Dusseldorf route start at $2,428.50. For comparison, a one-way business class ticket on United Airlines from Newark to Frankfurt in April 2027 was listed at $2,313 at the time of the report.
| Route (Airline) | One-Way Starting Price |
|---|---|
| Newark to Dusseldorf (La Compagnie) | $2,428.50 |
| Newark to Frankfurt (United Airlines) | $2,313 |
Lars Redeligx, CEO of Düsseldorf Airport, welcomed the new service. He said La Compagnie is bringing a product designed for people who want to cross the Atlantic efficiently and in a relaxed way. The flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
