United, American Add Summer Routes
United Airlines announced ten new international destinations and four new routes, while American Airlines added seven new international routes including
United Airlines announced ten new international destinations and four new routes for summer 2027. American Airlines also revealed seven new international routes, adding three new destinations to its network.
According to a report from Cranky Flier, United made the announcement at an event in Newark. Eight of the ten new destinations are not currently served by any U.S. airline. Most will operate from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
United's New Destinations and Routes
The new destinations feature a mix of European and Asian points. The airline provided specific start dates, frequencies, and aircraft types.

United is also adding four new routes to cities it already serves. Denver to Paris begins May 27 with a Boeing 787-9. Los Angeles to Osaka starts March 27, also with a 787-9. San Francisco to Tel Aviv service returns March 28 on a 787-9. Washington/Dulles to Milan Malpensa begins May 28 on a Boeing 767-300ER.
American's New International Service
American Airlines announced seven new international routes. The carrier is adding three new destinations: Porto, Reykjavik (KEF), and Vienna. All three will be served from its Philadelphia hub.
American will be the only U.S. carrier flying to Vienna when that service begins. The Vienna flight will reportedly be the longest flight operated by an Airbus A321XLR. Porto and Vienna are new for American, while Reykjavik returns after a hiatus since 2019.
The source states Vienna service starts May 6. Porto launches March 28. Reykjavik begins May 27.
American's other new routes include Charlotte to Barcelona starting May 27 on a Boeing 777-200ER. Chicago O'Hare to Tokyo Narita begins March 19 on a Boeing 787-9. From New York JFK, the airline is adding Amsterdam service on March 28 with an A321XLR, a fourth daily frequency to London Heathrow on March 28 with a 787-9, and Nice service starting May 6 with an A321XLR.
JetBlue Lounge and American Survey
In other news, JetBlue opened its second lounge, called the BlueHouse, at Boston Logan Airport. The Cranky Flier report states it is 12,000 square feet, about 33% larger than the carrier's lounge at JFK. JetBlue has expanded complimentary access. All customers on a Mint fare, excluding Mint Base, now have access regardless of whether the flight is transatlantic or domestic.
Separately, a survey of American Airlines flight attendants presented a critical view of management. More than 8,000 flight attendants participated. The survey was reportedly conducted by the union.
Eighty-four percent of respondents said inflight management does not provide adequate in-person support. Sixty-one percent described their experience with the management team as "unsupported." When asked if they felt empowered to go above and beyond for customers without fear of criticism, eighty-one percent said no. The report notes that the 8,000 respondents represent about 28% of American's total flight attendant workforce.
