Major airlines and banks have significantly increased welcome bonuses across their co-branded credit card portfolios. Many now offer over 100,000 miles for meeting initial spending requirements, creating new opportunities for travelers to maximize mileage value.

United and Chase raised initial bonuses on all four personal credit cards to 100,000 miles. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card provides 75,000 bonus miles after $4,000 in spending within the first three months. The Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard offers 125,000 miles after $15,000 in spending in the first five months.

Enhanced travel perks boost card value beyond miles

Cards now include substantial travel credits, lounge access, and elite status benefits that increase overall value beyond mileage accumulation. The United ClubSM Card, with a $695 annual fee, includes a full United Club membership. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card provides a $300 credit for hotels and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel in the first year.

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card includes a $100 Delta Stays Credit for prepaid hotel bookings. It also grants access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide, including the Capital One Lounge network and Priority Pass. The Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard includes Admirals Club membership for the cardholder and up to two guests, plus a first checked bag free for the cardholder and up to eight companions on domestic American Airlines itineraries.

Other United cards bundle annual credits. The United QuestSM Card has a $350 annual fee and provides $200 in United TravelBank cash each year, plus a 10,000-mile award flight discount. The UnitedSM Business Card, with a $150 annual fee, offers a $125 United travel credit after five separate $100 flight purchases.

Elite status multiplies earning potential

Cardholders with elite status can earn significantly more miles through tiered benefits that amplify spending value. Eligible primary cardholders earn twice as many flight miles with a qualifying card. Those with elite status earn three additional miles per dollar spent, which totals 15,000 extra miles for $5,000 in eligible fares.

Award pricing is also discounted. Cardholders receive at least 10% off United and United Express award prices without Premier status. Those with Premier status get at least 15% off. This award pricing benefit becomes available up to five weeks after card issuance.

For the United GatewaySM Card, higher flight earning and award pricing benefits unlock after $10,000 in purchases in a calendar year. Many offers include an additional 10,000 miles for adding an authorized user within three months of account opening. The UnitedSM Explorer Card offers up to 80,000 miles with no first-year annual fee and includes Group 2 boarding, two United Club one-time passes, and a free first checked bag.

Business card offers are also substantial. The Capital One Venture X Business Credit Card provides 150,000 bonus miles after $40,000 in spending within the first four months. An additional 150,000 bonus miles and a $1,000 travel credit are available after $120,000 in spending in that period. Its annual fee is $395. The UnitedSM Business Card offers 100,000 miles and 2,000 Premier qualifying points.

Additional perks are widespread. Many cards offer credits for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees. The Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $150, and includes a $120 annual rideshare credit. The Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card provides two domestic round-trip Delta Comfort Flight Certificates after $10,000 in spending in the first six months and a 20% statement credit on eligible Delta in-flight purchases. Cardholders must complete the required spending within the first 3-6 months to qualify for the stated welcome bonuses.
