A recent flight on Air Greenland's rare Airbus A330-800neo provided a first look at its Premium Class cabin. The four-hour journey from Nuuk to Copenhagen offered a pleasant, if scaled-back, premium experience compared to the carrier's previous business class product.
Cabin and Boarding Experience
Boarding in Nuuk involves an outdoor walk to the aircraft, as the airport lacks jetbridges. The cabin itself presents clean, fresh color tones. The airline has moved from a traditional business class layout on its retired A330-200 to a premium economy-style configuration on the new -800neo. The shift was driven by low demand for the previous, more luxurious business class tickets.
The new cabin features a 2-3-2 seating arrangement. On this flight, the cabin was not full, allowing some passengers to have an empty seat beside them.
Seat and In-Flight Entertainment
Each seat is equipped with a seatback screen providing audio and video on demand. Prior to takeoff, passengers in Premium Class received complimentary headsets in a distinctive red Air Greenland-branded bag. The airline also provided a Wi-Fi access card, granting complimentary internet that functioned well throughout the flight.
Dining and Service
Lunch was served after takeoff. The standard premium class meal offers no choice, changing only once per month, though special meals can be requested in advance. The monthly menu featured beef and udon noodles with vegetables in oyster sauce. One passenger, who had ordered a gluten-free meal that was not loaded, was offered a vegetarian alternative of cheese ravioli but opted for the standard beef dish.
The meal was reported to be pretty good, with a smoked salmon starter highlighted as particularly enjoyable. Dessert was noted as being similar to that served on Scandinavian airline SAS, as the catering is handled in Copenhagen. Beverage service included Champagne and cashews prior to the meal, with flight attendants offering refills throughout the journey.
Flight Conclusion
The flight passed quickly, arriving into Copenhagen on schedule at sunset. While views of Reykjavík and Tórshavn were obscured by cloud cover, the overall impression of the Premium Class experience was positive. A more detailed review covering amenities, in-flight entertainment, and lavatories is forthcoming.
