Singapore Airlines has completed the major expansion of its SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Changi Airport's Terminal 2. A passenger traveling to the United States was admitted into the finished section, which was still having final equipment installed, providing a first look at the new space.

The traveler, known as SINJim, and his spouse were welcomed into the lounge while corporate employees were taking promotional photographs and workers were installing a beer machine. Staff apologized for construction dust, indicating a very soft opening. The lounge represents a key phase in the carrier's S$45 million investment to renovate all its Terminal 2 lounges, a project announced in April 2025.

Lounge Expansion Project Timeline

Work has been conducted in phases to keep facilities available. The new First Class SilverKris Lounge opened in November 2025 in a new space. Its former location was then converted into the first section of the renovated Business Class lounge, which began operations in April 2026. The original Business Class lounge then closed for reconstruction and has now reopened, connecting with the earlier section to form the complete, expanded facility.

The newly combined Business Class SilverKris Lounge is approximately 30% larger than the old version and can accommodate around 320 passengers. Singapore Airlines had promised a range of new amenities for the space.

New Amenities and Design

The renovated lounge imports design elements from the airline's flagship Terminal 3 lounges. It features warmer wood paneling and tan and blue seating. The carrier's promised amenities include a quiet rest area with reclining seats, a redesigned living room with various seating styles, and productivity pods for work. An expanded buffet offers both Asian and Western dishes, supported by live cooking stations. A full-service bar provides barista-made coffee in the morning and signature cocktails in the evening.

The old Terminal 2 Business Class lounge was widely considered dark, dated, and crowded. The new facility directly addresses these criticisms with more natural light, greater space, and a modern design.

Remaining Work in Terminal 2

While the Business Class lounge appears operational, the broader Terminal 2 lounge project continues. The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge is still undergoing its own expansion and renovation. When finished, it will double its previous capacity and, for the first time, include its own restrooms and shower suites. The entire S$45 million project is scheduled for completion around the middle of 2027.

For now, Business Class passengers and eligible Star Alliance travelers departing from Terminal 2 have gained access to a substantially upgraded lounge ahead of the formal schedule. The installation of the beer machine was one of the final tasks observed during the accidental preview.
