United Airlines adds four new routes for spring 2027
United Airlines will launch four new routes from San Francisco and Chicago in spring 2027, including new service to Charleston, Hartford, Oklahoma City, and Bermuda.

United Airlines will launch four new routes from San Francisco and Chicago in spring 2027, with Charleston and Oklahoma City receiving new service. This expansion addresses softening cross-border demand by adding capacity on key North American and transatlantic corridors.
Three new routes will originate from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Charleston (CHS), Hartford (BDL), and Oklahoma City (OKC) starting March 28, 2027. One new route will launch from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Bermuda (BDA) on April 3, 2027. Oklahoma City will be served by United Express, while Charleston and Hartford will be served by United mainline aircraft. The San Francisco to Charleston route will operate four times weekly, and the Chicago to Bermuda route will operate once weekly.
United strengthens transatlantic network
United's new Chicago to Bermuda service joins its existing year-round flights from Newark. Other US carriers serving Bermuda include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and JetBlue. The airline's broader transatlantic strategy includes a significant expansion of European connections through its partnership with Air Canada. Both airlines agreed to renew and expand their trans-border joint business agreement, pending regulatory approval from Canadian authorities.
Air Canada will launch new trans-border routes in summer 2027, including Toronto to Louisville, Montreal to Indianapolis, and Edmonton to Newark. United Airlines will add flights from Denver to Ottawa and Quebec City. Air Canada's strategy involves connecting US passengers through Canadian hubs to Europe and Asia, supporting both business and leisure travel.
Charleston Airport sees increased United presence
United's new San Francisco route will increase its destinations from Charleston International Airport to six. The carrier already flies from Charleston to Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark, and Washington Dulles. United holds 12.8% of all flights at Charleston International Airport, which served approximately 820,000 passengers between August 2025 and July 2026.
American Airlines holds the largest market share at the airport at 25.9%, followed by Delta Air Lines at 23.7% and Breeze Airways at 14.1%. The only other transcontinental flights from Charleston are Breeze Airways' seasonal service to Los Angeles and Alaska Airlines' year-round service to Seattle.
As part of its expanded Canada-US market strategy, United Airlines will also launch seasonal service between Newark and St. John's, Newfoundland.
