Cabins: JetBlue has launched sales for its new BlueFirst domestic first-class cabin, featuring recliner seats

JetBlue has started selling seats in BlueFirst, the airline's first-ever domestic first-class product. The first reconfigured plane is planned to enter service on December 8, 2026, on a daily flight between Boston and Fort Lauderdale.

BlueFirst is fitted across JetBlue's non-Mint fleet. On board, passengers will find wide recliner seats in a two-by-two layout. The Collins Aerospace MiQ seats offer up to 7 inches of extra legroom and up to 5 inches of recline. Every seat has a 13.3-inch screen, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and in-seat power. BlueFirst is a recliner, not a flat bed.

Ground benefits include priority check-in, expedited security lane access at more than 30 airports, Group 1 boarding, and dedicated overhead bins. On flights of 899 miles or more, BlueFirst customers receive a 'FirstFare' meal in a bento-style box.

Fares, Benefits and Booking Details for BlueFirst

BlueFirst offers three fare types with varying benefits. Introductory fares start at $249 one-way for New York LaGuardia to Fort Lauderdale.

BlueFirst Flex2No fees; full refundIncluded

The Flex fare allows full refunds to the original form of payment. The carrier plans to quickly expand the offering, with some 40 markets on sale now. The expansion reflects an intent to bring routes online through April 2027.

Route Expansion and Cabin Changes

Bookings are open for BlueFirst on select flights across more than 30 routes. Select flights between Fort Lauderdale and New York LaGuardia will follow within days of the inaugural. Washington DC (Reagan National) to Fort Lauderdale is scheduled from December 12, 2026. Early 2027 routes include San Juan, Cancun, Aruba, and Costa Rica, several from New York JFK. BlueFirst may run only on some flights or dates on a route.

The regular economy class cabin will shrink as a result of the reconfiguration. Forward of the exit row, the cabin still has nine rows, but three are now BlueFirst. An extra row is added behind the exit row, and there is a commensurate shrink in legroom throughout.

Mosaic Elite Benefits and Upgrades

JetBlue announced a shift in its Mosaic elite benefits, bringing upgrades into play. The company’s Move to Mint certificates will convert to Premium Upgrade certificates, which enable redemption for the BlueFirst cabin as well. Mosaic members booked on non-Basic fares will be eligible for complimentary space-available upgrades to BlueFirst before departure, subject to seat availability. Details on that process and timing were not immediately available.

Chief Executive Officer Joanna Geraghty said the airline designed BlueFirst to deliver a more accessible first-class experience that combines thoughtful hospitality with exceptional value. She added that this is just the beginning, with plans to bring BlueFirst to more aircraft and markets across the network.

JetBlue plans to expand BlueFirst to more markets including Latin America and the Caribbean, with routes rolling out through April 2027.
